The Greenwood Heights CSA is limited in the number of shares we can offer our community. Our farmers have a finite amount land to work with, which will yield a finite amount of crops. Because of this, membership cannot be guaranteed for any given season. In 2013 we could offer 120 shares per week. In 2017, that number increased to 150, due to our farmer acquiring additional lands. Our goal is to aid our farmers’ ability to produce more quality food every year, thereby enabling us to increase our membership.
Our CSA members from last season are offered a renewal of their membership at a small discount in the early spring. Membership is then opened to the general public and those on our waiting list on a first come, first served basis. We are usually sold out of shares by May.
A vegetable–either half or full–is compulsory for membership in our CSA. Additional shares, such as fruit and eggs are optional.
The Fruit Share includes a variety of fruit from Hudson Valley farms, average of two varieties of fruit per delivery. We source the fruit share from a handful of orchards and fruit growers in the Hudson Valley, including Mead Orchard and Samascott Orchard. Fruit availability varies from season to season, but you can expect Apples, Peaches, Blueberries, Pears, Nectarines, Raspberries, Cherries, Cider, and more! Fruit shares begin in July.
The 2019 Season is Saturday June 8 – Saturday Nov. 2nd (22 weeks)
